Edit: In case you're unsure of the VirusTotal results, cloning the repo and running "build.bat" (with MSVC - https://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/) should build the application
Otherwise, https://github.com/extramaster/bchunk/releases/download/v1.2.1_repub.1/bchunk.v1.2.1_repub.1.zip

BinChunker is an application that converts .bin "Disc Image" files to .iso with the help of a .cue file.

The application is unfortunately Unix-only (which includes Mac OS X and Linux) due to the use of a number of non-standard C headers - in fact, the code will fail to compile on a Windows "cross-native" Linux layer like MingW64

$ gcc bchunk.c -o bchunk
bchunk.c:61:24: fatal error: netinet/in.h: No such file or directory
 #include <netinet/in.h>
                        ^
compilation terminated.

Fortunately, a fix has been published by mzex for use of BinChunker on Windows, however it does not come with the source code (only a binary encoded in base64 format).

In the spirit of the GPL, here's a copy of the source code on Github: https://github.com/extramaster/bchunk. Feel free to Fork (or even spin off as a separate repo).
And here's the Windows Binary Download of BinChunker, the GitHub releases system is used: https://github.com/extramaster/bchunk/releases.

Oh, and one more thing, the changes made do not break Linux/Unix builds. So you can compile this version with Linux as usual.

Download From HAR

Posted: Monday, 15 September 2014

Download from HAR is a Windows application that can download content from a HAR file.

You might need this program to more effective download content from servers then with wget or curl, where rendered content such as images or external javascript resources are all methodologically downloaded through the program, with next to none left behind.

Downloading websites for the sake of cloning them is unethical and immoral... This tool was created to play around with GPL-licensed websites, such as http://dhmholley.co.uk/civclicker.html, which does not have an easily accessible open source repository.

Scroll down for the download link...

Simple Base64 to PNG Converter

Posted: Tuesday, 5 August 2014

Of course, if you want to convert a Base64 data to pretty much any type of file, you can just use the online tool at http://www.extramaster.net/tools/fromBase64/.

But on the off-chance that you are naturally suspicious of anything that anyone makes, here's a simple Base64 to PNG Windows application that can convert from Base64 to PNG offline and without internet.

So, without further adieu,

Source-code?

I'm straying away from the open-source community for a while. But if you really, really need the code, then the basic one-liner is available here: http://blog.extramaster.net/2014/08/value-of-type-1-dimensional-array-of.html

Downloaded File Completer

Posted: Monday, 21 July 2014

If you've ever used Google Chrome (which, as of 2014, means that you're in the majority of users), then you may have gotten a bright red text mocking you, claiming "Unknown Network Error" besides it.

Upon investigation, usually, something incomprehensible usually manifests itself, for example, the download stopped at 99% without any explanation, leaving behind a corrupted file.

Now, if you've ever been in a situation where you've been downloading that critical file that really needed to be downloaded, or the 99% represents hundreds of megabytes - even gigabytes of data, and it's that one missing bit that would warrant the entire file to be re-downloaded (since the checksum in zip files are something out of this world), then the "Downloaded File Completer" will help patch up the file and run as good as new.
Now, this tool works fine in any web browser, be it Firefox or Google Chrome, but since I primarily use Chrome myself, the tool has only really been tested it with a download that Chrome branded "Unknown Network Error",
As such, if you have a file on your computer with the file extension ".crdownload", and the title looks something along the lines of "Unconfirmed [random number].crdownload", then locate the original URL of the corrupted file, and run it through this tool to repair it!

Google Chrome Canary Detection Page

Posted: Saturday, 14 June 2014

Here's a simple online page that you can use to check if you're using Chrome Canary:
In terms of development, it's not a good idea to set a rule to funnel web browsers.
However, as a page used for demonstration purposes, it's always nice to have a page that can detect which browser you're using, in this case, detect that the browser being used is one of the Google Chrome Canary channel.

How to download from Soundcloud

Posted: Thursday, 10 April 2014

Soundcloud is a music and sound streaming and sharing website, with a diverse range of genres and songs to explore and listen to.
Songs can be enabled to be downloaded at the owner's discretion, however other's aren't. In the case of artists such as deadmau5, you're better off streaming the file into your computer for safekeeping forever, in case the sounds that the artists themselves provide get taken down, or if for some other consequence the audio file gets deleted (bad publicity, e.t.c...).
To download a track from Soundcloud, whether downloading is available or not, just follow the steps below:
1. Visit http://www.extramaster.net/tools/downloadFromSoundcloud/
2. Enter a valid Soundcloud link/track into the textbox
3. Press "Download"
4. Click on the song's title link that the following site generates, or alternatively, right-click the link and choose "Save Link As" or "Save Target As", depending on your browser...
This Soundcloud downloader also delivers the appropriate and "normal/original" download format if the uploader has enabled it, but in most cases, this tool is primarily available to use to download tracks that have the potential to be deleted for reasons other then copyright infringement.
This post will show you how to:
Download from soundcloud
Download non-downloadable songs from soundcloud
Grab an mp3, wav, aiff file download from soundcloud
Stream soundcloud songs to a file
Keep a soundcloud track from someone that's harassing/bullying you with

Shutdown Timer

Posted: Saturday, 22 March 2014

Application to shutdown your Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 computer after a predefined amount of time. So that you can allow your computer to upload files, leave and have it shutdown automatically.
It's better then using CMD to blindly time a shutdown time.
There's no ads, virus, malicious software, and the program is both lightweight and portable, being a simple program.
So here it is:

Convert image to BMP

Posted: Wednesday, 19 March 2014

Recently, I got sick and tired of having to go through the process of downloading programs full of bloat and "full version" ad messages, along with other things - just to have a simple program that converts image files into BMPs.
But I also didn't just want any regular program, I didn't want to see a fully featured, super cooked "additional features" program, I wanted simple a drag and drop program that gets the job done on thousands of images.
So instead of downloading freeware programs loaded with toolbars, adware and all the other junk, and instead of loading the images one-by-one into Microsoft Paint and converting them all manually, I created a simple program that you can just drag, drop and have a bitmap image from common image formats.
I don't claim to have created a program that can convert millions of image formats to bitmap, just common formats: .jpg, .png and .gif* all seem to work fine.
There's no ads, virus, malicious software, and the program is both lightweight and portable, being a simple program.
So here it is:
Download:
http://static.extramaster.net/imagetobmp.html (2018 edit: looks like what was once detected as a perfectly clean file is now suddenly detected as a false positive malware, aw well, I should've open sourced the software on day-one, but then it would compile to the same binary and still be considered malware)

MD5: 9EEE1A103D38B1085F0CFB0B74317B6A
SHA-256: 1B5B3D233393D76493B1C0519CEF92492C3C0F0279D9755619A348A5F7B0FD2A

Note:
This .net program requires .net v4 or higher.
The program is not malicious and does not contain any toolbars, adware, or malware. It's only 33,280 bytes (~33kb if you're uncertain of the notation), so it's extremely lightweight and easy to download. And it gets the job done.
I do not keep track of anything that happens to that program (it does not auto-update, no data gets sent to any website, etc.), so as a simple disclaimer, I am not responsible for what "image to bitmap" does to your dog, cat, goldfish or horse. Or everything else asides from that...
This program overrides bitmaps that share the same appended name (file name+appended file extension) by default, which shouldn't be a big deal since the file extension is being appended, however if it does become an issue, just uncheck "Override File?"
* With animated .gif files, you only get the first frame as a bitmap, with normal .gif files, you get what you'd expect as a bitmap.

The juicy bit

There's nothing much to say about this tools asides from the fact that it's located here:

An easier way

If you're using a browser with a bookmark bar, drag the following link into it and launch the bookmark in a YouTube video page.

Regarding 1080p

Youtube changed the way they deliver videos for 1080p videos and up, which is a shame if you need to download high quality public domain videos, but hey, there's always vimeo for that!
