Download From HAR

Posted: Monday, 15 September 2014

Download from HAR is a Windows application that can download content from a HAR file.

You might need this program to more effective download content from servers then with wget or curl, where rendered content such as images or external javascript resources are all methodologically downloaded through the program, with next to none left behind.

Downloading websites for the sake of cloning them is unethical and immoral... This tool was created to play around with GPL-licensed websites, such as http://dhmholley.co.uk/civclicker.html, which does not have an easily accessible open source repository.

Downloaded File Completer

Posted: Monday, 21 July 2014

If you've ever used Google Chrome (which, as of 2014, means that you're in the majority of users), then you may have gotten a bright red text mocking you, claiming "Unknown Network Error" besides it.

Upon investigation, usually, something incomprehensible usually manifests itself, for example, the download stopped at 99% without any explanation, leaving behind a corrupted file.

Now, if you've ever been in a situation where you've been downloading that critical file that really needed to be downloaded, or the 99% represents hundreds of megabytes - even gigabytes of data, and it's that one missing bit that would warrant the entire file to be re-downloaded (since the checksum in zip files are something out of this world), then the "Downloaded File Completer" will help patch up the file and run as good as new.
Now, this tool works fine in any web browser, be it Firefox or Google Chrome, but since I primarily use Chrome myself, the tool has only really been tested it with a download that Chrome branded "Unknown Network Error",
As such, if you have a file on your computer with the file extension ".crdownload", and the title looks something along the lines of "Unconfirmed [random number].crdownload", then locate the original URL of the corrupted file, and run it through this tool to repair it!

How to bypass YouTube's age restrictions

Posted: Thursday, 10 April 2014

Add to Chrome
Download the source on Github here!
What's stopping you from watching that trailer for that game that you're interested in?

Well apparently, YouTube's age restrictions is the barricade to everything.

I know, the age restriction is horribly implemented. Imagine this scenario. You're watching a trailer for titanfall, but wait. You can't actually watch it because the video is flagged by YouTube as not adhering to some community guidance.
Basically, the trailer uploaders, or someone, set the trigger for the video to be watched only by people with a YouTube account that's also over 18 years of age. Amazing isn't it?
So titanfall, an MA15+ game, has its official trailer blocked to those aged 15, 16 and 17 because you're not 18 and above. How ridiculous and uncalled for is that?
It's over-restrictive and limiting for a game that's rated and approved for those aged 15 and above to be blocked by YouTube for that age. And that's where this extension comes in.
“MA 15+ classified material contains strong content and is legally restricted to persons 15 years and over. It may contain classifiable elements such as sex scenes and drug use that are strong in impact.”

deMobilify

Posted: Wednesday, 29 January 2014

Recently, I got sick of having to deal with mobile webpages when I bookmarked a link on my phone to read on a desktop computer.
The interface works well on mobile where you've got low screen estate, but on a desktop computer, mobile websites are absolute torture!!
Fortunately, sites like vimeo and youtube automatically deal with the smartphone vs desktop issue and redirect you to your correct destination, but how about Wikipedia?
Sites that refuse to give in and automatically redirect you to your desired non-mobile website are annoying.
and this Google Chrome extension seeks to solve that.
It works passively in the background; no data is transmitted when using this extension and you have pretty much nothing to lose when installing it.
And allows you to make full use of the desktop versions of websites, and not plain old crappy mobile websites..

Resolving the "304 Not Modified" Google Chrome "CSS not loading on refresh" issue

Posted: Friday, 24 May 2013

As a web developer, I am disappointed by the fact that Chrome 27 broke many features and functionality that was implemented and included in Chrome 24. That said, resolving Google Chrome's issue of not being able to reload CSS that it decides to 304 Not Modified was not an easy task..
