sRGB vs Rec. 2020/Rec. 2100

For those wanting a quick and easy comparison between sRGB and Rec. 2020/Rec. 2100, here's the colour space mapped out on a CIE 1931 xy chromaticity diagram.

The summary is that screens supporting Rec. 2020 or Rec. 2100 offers a wider gamut than sRGB (40% wider).
Those deciding on the direction of the future of displays, especially the trend towards "HDR" technology, should look into Rec. 2100.

Familiarity

The current site template is focused on consistency and functionality, with interactive user interface elements given a clear distinction amongst other interfaces. A highlight of this new design consistency focuses on links. The idea of having links look like buttons, because the idea of hypertext being just a "link" is over. Buttons provide the gateway to more interactivity and content, and so why can't links convey the same meaning?

New web standards

HTML5 isn't new. It's been out there for a few years now. However, each second of time passed will see more new features added to HTML5, which makes it unique. This site design seeks to establish the new HTML5 tags with meaning and intent, with the <header>,<section> and <footer> tags reiterating meaning with site structure, and this is visually emphasised with CSS3.
SVG graphics are also featured in this new design. With most of the visual icons in an embedded SVG format. Vector graphics are at the hallmark of 2013-2014 web development, yet, major sites still rely on .jpg, .png and .gif for delivering graphical content. No more blocky graphics here! SVG aliases lines so they look good at any resolution!
Oh, and as of the time of this post, the site is also valid HTML5, but it might not be true from time-to-time (due to updates, e.t.c..) and isn't worthy of mentioning on the site itself.

Content-rich

Being a site that focuses on feature-rich content, the new site design is focused on making content as readable and interactive as possible. Scrolling triggers a mini parallax effect that is both used to indicate the position on the page, but also to increase the level of interactivity that this site has to offer.

One-size fits all, responsiveness

We should have to push you off to mobile-optimized versions of websites when mobile devices can only do so much in 2014. Whether it be a HDTV, 4K TV or a 300DPI "smartphone", the website will scale appropriately and still be readable... This coupled with the SVG graphics detailed above, leads to a crisp and clear browsing experience.

How to download from Soundcloud

Soundcloud is a music and sound streaming and sharing website, with a diverse range of genres and songs to explore and listen to.

Songs can be enabled to be downloaded at the owner's discretion, however other's aren't. In the case of artists such as deadmau5, you're better off streaming the file into your computer for safekeeping forever, in case the sounds that the artists themselves provide get taken down, or if for some other consequence the audio file gets deleted (bad publicity, e.t.c...).

To download a track from Soundcloud, whether downloading is available or not, just follow the steps below:
1. Visit http://www.extramaster.net/tools/downloadFromSoundcloud/
2. Enter a valid Soundcloud link/track into the textbox
3. Press "Download"
4. Click on the song's title link that the following site generates, or alternatively, right-click the link and choose "Save Link As" or "Save Target As", depending on your browser...

How to speed up Ubuntu 13.04 on VMware

If you've ever used Ubuntu with VMware and have been consistently frustrated by the amount of lag that comes with each and every incremental distribution (as a result of additional features added into Ubuntu, such as the eye-candy UI, Unity), then fear not, here's a few simple way to solve the issue of lag regarding virtualized usage of Ubuntu:

Location of agent.exe

If you're just using your computer and you run into a bit of lag whilst changing a song or while you're just browsing the internet, and open up task manager to investigate the issue, just to see a program called "agent.exe" hog some cpu.
Then the best way to solve this issue is to either uninstall DragonNaturally Speaking, or by taking the recommended route of blocking it within your Firewall...

2013 Apple Event Countdown (iPhone 5S, 5C reveal)

Apple is expected to announce the launch of a new generation of it's flagship product, the iPhone - speculated to be called the "iPhone 5S", it is said to contain features and specs which matches those of a Samsung Galaxy S4, once again an attempt by Apple to strengthen Apple's position in a mobile market in which a new era of Android devices now dominates.

Furthermore, it is rumoured that an iPhone 5C would be released alongside the iPhone 5S, namely as either a "Cheaper" alternative to the standard iPhone or as one specifically designed for use in China - an emerging market for mass-produced smartphones.

URL Shortener Followup

With the current trend in URL shorteners, it's difficult to make sure what url redirects where, such as whether or not that tinyurl link leads to one of those shock websites.
A few years back Twitter offered and announced its t.co url shortener service that is now the standard URL shortener for all of twitter's link, making projects like this useful: http://tweeplus.com/#

However, at the same time, Twitter had made raw links quite ambiguous - for example: http://t.co/uUiGMyzFIH

Basically, what I have created is a once-only URL followup, or to be more concise to its objective, a "URL Shortener Followup", which is a simple web tool that it analyses your link once, to see where a URL will redirect to.
This concept has most likely been thought about years ago, however this followup tool is unique in that it will only attempt to detect any redirects exclusively from your URL and not attempt to follow up or send a request to any secondary URLs that your link redirects to, keeping links that have a certain expiration time or secret token(s) confidential and untouched.

iOS 7 has been released!

Update iTunes to iTunes 11.1 and connect your iPhone, if iTunes does not recognise your phone then follow these instructions:

1. Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu.
2. Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
3. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
4. Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
5. In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
6. Use this window to navigate to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
7. Double-click the "usbaapl.ini" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64.ini" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
8. Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
9. Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.

Long-time iOS user burn

As an Apple user for more then 4 years, I have seen Apple's exceptionally good products suddenly burn and die once a new device comes out. Sure they could optimize and fix bugs on new updates, but every update that you apply to your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad lags it. I have a second generation iPod touch like many other early adopters of the touch-screen technology (and touch screen apple devices) and it was revolutionary and could run silky smooth, doing what I wanted it to do without any lag. Then the updates kept rolling month after month, until the iPhone 4 was announced, and iOS 4 was released.. Since then, it takes around half a minute to open the music app, longer to read emails and minutes to browser the web on Safari. Turning off spotlight helped with the lag dramatically, but until this day, iOS

4.2.1 is what my iPod touch has been stuck at, and performance isn't perfect (at all).. What Apple did to the device was to cripple the hardware through the software updates, and as an iPhone user, I feel burned and disappointed by Apple for not providing a product that can last.

Tl;dr: I'm disappointed at Apple, they killed a perfectly good iPod touch off

About computers, in general

Doing some very basic hacking.. It looks like iOS6 doesn't allow modificationx to the file directories of actual apps, else I would be releasing some mad hack for iOS [that I created while I was still on iOS5]. However, I still have my Second Gen iPod Touch to save my arse, still being stuck on iOS 4.2.1 has it's perks.

Google Maps blocked on Window Phone

Is Google blocking Window Phone users from using Google maps?

Google has been in intense competition with Microsoft, both companies offer rival services and products. However, outside of lawsuits and courts, Microsoft consumers are slightly feeling the burn, with the Google maps mobile page being redirected to the Google homepage when visited by a Windows Phone.

So what exactly is going on? Well, the useragent can tell everything about a browser and when spoofed properly, can trick websites into revealing what's really going on. One simple way to spoof the useragent is to use this website: http://www.wannabrowser.com/index.php, alternatively you can spoof the useragent by changing browser settings or by using a custom browser.

Below is a basic test of spoofed useragents, to try to see what's going on and to identify the culprit.

3DS Emulators, eMu3Ds are fakes

Thanks to (1) Smealum's (smea) creation and effort on the 3DS Homebrew, IronHax and Ninjhax - which all enable running homebrew programs straight off a physical 3DS device (http://smealum.github.io/3ds/),
(2) archshift's work on Decrypt9 and xorer - which decrypts 3DS roms by first generating a xorpad (from a 3DS device) and applying that to the 3DS rom (on a Desktop),
and (3) work that has been completed with Citra http://citra-emu.org/ https://github.com/citra-emu/citra - emulating the 3DS' ARM11 CPU and more importantly PICA200 GPU,
Commercial 3DS rom emulation is possible!
Only took 3-4 years!

The Gist

This whole post started out with 3DSEmulator.org. 2 years ago, 3DSEmulator.org was a scam. Like an pesky introduced species, the authors keep on evolving their scam and it continues to live on, years after the initial 3DS hype, and still is a scam.
Even today, 3DSEmulator.org remains to be a fake, and unfortunately, have evolved their tactics to be more then just an annoyance, but more of a malice.
To be as blunt as possible, eMu3Ds (from the aforementioned site) is a fake, YouTube videos related to this whole phenomena are fake.

Be Skeptical

With YouTube videos, sometimes the scams are extremely obvious. Others - you might have to think twice and be amazed by how the 3DS graphics can be shown in a 2D video, or about how powerful that the computers that run these supposed programs are.
Monitoring the progress of the whole situation, it seems like copycats looking to exploit users and "offering" the same as 3DSEmulator.org are popping up.
3DSEmulator.org is still the #1 site when you search "3ds emulator", but now it's accompanied by other sites that are similarly deceptive.

With the development of Citra, it is clear that even a small factorial alongside OpenGL homebrew code takes time to run. (though, commercial games appear to be feasible).
So imagine these so-called "Commercial 3DS Emulators", that claim to emulate a magnititude of high-quality 3DS games. Then think twice about how "legit" these applications are.

It doesn't offer the ability to emulate commercial 3DS games, but it's better then finding out that you have a magnitude of riskware installed onto your computer.

Don't install eMu3DS!

Instead of being plain dodgy, eMu3DS is now no-longer downloaded as an archive. At the original date of posting (2012), it was fairly harmless to fall for the deceitful program.
Now, the program is bundled full of joy-
if you consider having your computer hi-jacked by malware and constantly bombarded with adware joyful.

Facebook sucks

Their shares are decreasing by the motherload! No-one was serious when buying facebook shares i guess...
It was once valued at about $45 dollars per share.. And now its about $31 and still going down
If anyone knows the stock better then me then please give me a basic understanding of why its slipping so rapidly..
